Avis Canty-Duck is an educator at heart and has been teaching in the Greenville County School District for 16 years. She began her career as a special education teacher where she taught students with Educable, Emotional and Learning Disabilities in the self-contained setting. Due to the nature of the classes Avis was given the opportunity to teach, she constantly looked for ways to make learning interactive, authentic and meaningful for her students. Technology was the perfect tool and soon, her students were excited about learning and even started seeking information on their own outside the four walls of their classroom. Avis continued to use technology to enhance and expand learning for her students which led her to obtain a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in eLearning and Technology Education from Concordia University. Now she serves her district as a Technology Facilitator for Title I schools. Her greatest joy is being able to assist other teachers with technology integration as well as coaching them to be more effective and well-rounded teachers. She truly believes her department motto, “Teachers Growing Teachers” and is excited about becoming a Swivl Pioneer to support her teachers and help them move their students to the next level in learning!
