Unveiling Swivl’s Brand New Robot and Classroom Tools!

April 18, 2016 By Brian Lamb1 Min Read

We have some big news for you this morning! After many months of hard work, we are ready to announce the release of our newest products that will help make personalized, whole-child learning a reality.

“Technology must support and inspire the hard work of teachers and students, not dictate it,” said Brian Lamb, Swivl co-founder and CEO. “So far, much of what we’ve seen from edtech hasn’t focused enough on creating flexible tools that evolve with education to solve the tough problems. That’s why we’re putting such an effort behind developing tools that gather more qualitative student data.”

Our new hardware and software tools for the classroom include:

  • Swivl C Series Robot—the third-generation video capture device with multi-marker capability
  • Swivl Practice—an app and online solution for lightweight video coaching and skill development
  • Swivl Expand Case—a combination iPad® case, wide-angle lens and tablet stand

Swivl C Series Robot

Swivl’s third-generation robot, the C Series Robot, is the easiest and most advanced video automation device yet. With twice the response speed, professional-quality audio and the ability to pair up to four fully functional markers to record multiple sources of audio, the C Series is the ideal tool for capturing instruction and class data during group and class-wide activities. The new model is currently available for pre-order online and ships in 30 days.

Swivl Practice App

The Swivl Practice app offers teachers a new way to capture, reflect and hone their teaching skills, as well as elicit feedback for coaching and mentoring. The new and improved app, that will eventually replace the Swivl Capture app, is not just for teachers or teachers in training. With time-stamped, two-way commenting, Swivl Practice is the perfect solution for helping students develop skills, such as language learning, presenting, writing and reading comprehension. Swivl Practice—available for download when the new hardware ships—is free, and a free 1-year Pro subscription will be available to those who purchase the C Series Robot.

Swivl Expand Case

The Expand Case is a great addition to any classroom using iPads. It offers the perfect accessory to support collaboration and learning and can be used with or without the C Series Robot. The smart cover and keyboard-compatible iPad case comes with a 140-degree professional-quality lens that also contains a nifty stowable stand. This patent-pending product’s design brings a wide-angle view to front-facing cameras and doubles as a productivity enhancing tablet stand that can be used  with the lens simultaneously. The Expand Case is ideal for use with the Swivl Practice app and also offers additional grip and stability when used with the C Series Robot, making it the ideal companion to the unit. It helps that the lens expands the field of view when capturing video for instruction, reflection and coaching. The case even supports students’ use of the company’s student video response and reflection app, Recap.
